The possibility of conveying the ionic components of the thermal water into the respiratory system, allows to perform a cleansing activity of the rhino-pharyngeal mucosa, a stimulation of the immune system, as well as to operate a direct bactericidal and bacteriostatic action. Moreover, the improved inflammatory conditions obtained, enable a restoration of the normal tropism of the ciliated epithelium of the respiratory tract, increasingly attacked by the usual disturbances of cigarette smoke and environmental pollution.

The 12-day inhalation treatment cycle includes applications of cold aerosols, hot- humid jet inhalations, dry nebulisations, tube-tympanic insufflations.

Aerosol (micelles less than 10 microns) and nebulisations (50) are used in cases where mucous secretion is scarce or absent (bronchial and pulmonary affections).

Direct jet inhalations should be reserved for pathologies of the  upper  airways where the largest micelles (100 microns) can perform a real mechanical cleansing action. The nebulisations are useful for those children experiencing recurrent rhino- pharyngeal and rhino-sinus catarrhal episodes with Waldeyer’s ring hyperplasia. In allergic forms the inhalations have a mastocyte stabilizing action.
